THE TARSUS TURN http://tarsusturn.posterous.com Abre mis ojos posterous.com Wed, 05 Sep 2012 08:32:00 -0700 The Culture Wars and the power to (re)define reality http://tarsusturn.posterous.com/the-culture-wars-and-the-power-to-redefine-re http://tarsusturn.posterous.com/the-culture-wars-and-the-power-to-redefine-re

1. The Culture Wars are an attempt to define or redefine reality.

2. Humanism seeks to define morality apart from God. Autonomy.

3. Liberal activists do not simply want the state to leave them alone, they want to enlist the power of the state to endorse and celebrate a certain lifestyle - they want to restructure society to celebrate their sexual practices. They also want laws to penalise or criminalise disappoval of their sexual choices.

They want to designate any philosophical or religious belief that does not affirm homosexuality and bisexuality as morally equal to heterosexuality a “hateful” position. In short, they want to revoke Christian, Jewish and Muslim freedom of conscience and banish us as bigots.

4. To the end of this cultural totalitarianism, they call their opponents e.g. supporters of traditional marriage, "haters." They easily engage in slander, lies and distortion. They brand their agenda as one of "justice" for "victims" but this is a demand for special rights, over and above what the rest of us have (SSM etc)

5. Hypocrisy and double standards.

6. Diablo's stink.Reminds me of the honesty of Aldous Huxley, author of Brave New World:

Aldous Huxley, Confessions of a Professed Atheist, Report: Perspectives on the News Vol. 3 June (1966), p.19

I had motives for not wanting the world to have meaning; consequently, assumed it had none, and was able without any difficulty to find satisfying reasons for this assumption.... The philosopher who finds no meaning in the world is not concerned exclusively with a problem in pure metaphysics; he is also  concerned to prove there is no valid reason why he personally should not do as he wants to do.... For myself, as no doubt for most of my contemporaries, the philosophy of meaninglessness was essentially an instrument of liberation. The liberation we desired was simultaneously liberation from a certain political and economic system and liberation from a certain system of morality. We objected to the morality because it interfered with our sexual freedom…

It is the fully grown seed of perversion articulated so grotesquely in the Humanist Manifesto No. 2

SIXTH: In the area of sexuality, we believe that intolerant attitudes, often cultivated by orthodox religions and puritanical cultures, unduly repress sexual conduct. The right to birth control, abortion, and divorce should be recognized. While we do not approve of exploitive, denigrating forms of sexual expression, neither do we wish to prohibit, by law or social sanction, sexual behavior between consenting adults. The many varieties of sexual exploration should not in themselves be considered "evil." Without countenancing mindless permissiveness or unbridled promiscuity, a civilized society should be a tolerant one. Short of harming others or compelling them to do likewise, individuals should be permitted to express their sexual proclivities and pursue their lifestyles as they desire. We wish to cultivate the development of a responsible attitude toward sexuality, in which humans are not exploited as sexual objects, and in which intimacy, sensitivity, respect, and honesty in interpersonal relations are encouraged. Moral education for children and adults is an important way of developing awareness and sexual maturity

And herein lies the truth: sin is man's unilateral declaration of independence from God and His Creation Order, including sexual morality. Romans 1:

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.

24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality,[c] wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving,[d] unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them

And the sad thing is, these things lead to death...so many people, with each choice they make, determine their eternal destiny in a hellish place...

Kyrie Eleison.

Tue, 14 Aug 2012 10:09:00 -0700 Herodians and Pharisees: Religion and Politics http://tarsusturn.posterous.com/herodians-and-pharisees-religion-and-politics http://tarsusturn.posterous.com/herodians-and-pharisees-religion-and-politics

1. The Original Creation Order: God created heaven and earth and gave Adam and Eve dominion. The command was to multiply, be fruitful and grow

a) Man under God

b) Man as steward, not owner

Genesis 1:28

And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Genesis 2: 15

The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.

2. Nimrod -  Genesis 10:9

a) First attempt to unite the world

b) Reject God

c) Attempt to usurp God's authority

d) Nimrod as political leader and as religious leader (humanism: no god or false religion: Nimrod is god)

3. Nebuchadnezzar - Leader of Babylonian Empire

a) Daniel 3: bow before my image - attempt to unify - common religion - totalitarian

b) Daniel 4: rebukes Nebuchadnezzar: God will break you if you do not break yourself e.g. be a good ruler, show mercy to the poor and weak

c) Nebu was political leader, assumed he was priest as well - religion and politics conflated: command nobles to bow down (political sanction, religious direction)

4. Jesus very radically said: "Render!"

a) limitation of human government - not absolute but subject to God

b) Return to Creation Order: Human Government subject to God; not ultimate, within God's Creation order

c) Humanism (godlessness) and False Religion / Mystery Babylon (wrong gods) are enemies but united in hatred of Christians/believers/the faithful

d) Jesus also said: beware the leaven of the Herodians (politicos) and Pharisees (religious ritualism)

HUMANISM + FALSE RELIGION (MYSTERY BABYLON) = HERODIANS & PHARISEES

HUMANISM ------------HUBRIS-------------HOMOSEXUALITY (self definition of morality)

                                                                 HEDONISM

HERESY ------------------------HATRED OF THINGS OF GOD ----- HADES
