Wild boars have been sighted in Singapore! A Today news report said that a boar was sighted in June at Bishan Park. It apparently was not a friendly boar, and acting boorishly, charged at a CISCO office and a child. Some reports said it was two wild boars. The government intends to bore deep into the problem and plans to "manage" (read: cull) these boars which apparently "roam freely in Pualu Tekong and the fringes of Jurong", that is, usually on the offshore isles, and Lower Pierce Reservoir.

Singapore has a wild boar problem: Khaw, Yahoo News, 22 June 2012
A researcher at a leading Singapore university said that "their distribution is more extensive than expected. One of the hypotheses is that they have been swimming over from Johor Bahru, or Pulau Tekong and Pulau Ubin. Those are very likely sources of the wild boar migration Also, right now wild boars, we can see them at the West Coast, East Coast, at Pasir Ris, Changi and the Jurong area and also in the north. So it's very likely they are coming from the northern islands and Malaysia.."

If Obelix roamed the countryside of this built-up tropical island, he would be happy!
There is one mention of the wild boar in the Bible, found in Psalm 80:12-13. It has to do with broken walls, lowered fences, and susceptibility to attack from invaders, stealing and loss of fruits
Why have you broken down its walls
so that all who pass by pick its grapes?
Boars from the forest ravage it,
and insects from the fields feed on it.
Boars and spoilt grapes - ponder.
